The G15 responds to fire safety call for evidence

  • 18 February 2020

In January 2020 the Government launched a call for evidence on fire safety and the risk prioritisation in existing buildings.

This is to support Government research to develop an evidence base on fire safety risk in buildings, which could assist building owners in the prioritisation of risks in existing buildings.

The consultation, which closed on 17 February, was seeking views and evidence to help define the scope of this research by providing, in advance, stakeholder and industry views on approaches, tools and methodology that should be considered for this complex project.

This response has been produced following discussions between G15 members and represents a broad consensus on factors and approaches the Government should consider when commissioning its research and producing recommendations that follow from that. The short timeframe made available to respond to this consultation means that this response should be seen as a first step in a dialogue between G15 members and the Government, which we would like to develop further post-consultation.
