G15 Residents’ Group responds to London Emergency Housing Package Consultation

The G15 Residents’ Group welcomes government efforts to unlock stalled housing developments, but stresses that emergency measures must not come at the expense of long‑term affordability, safety, or community infrastructure. Residents warn that lowering expectations on affordable housing or reducing Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) payments risks worsening pressures on local services, accessibility, and neighbourhood wellbeing.

Residents support reforms only where they genuinely increase the number of truly affordable, family‑sized homes and include strong safeguards. They also emphasise that speeding up planning must not sideline local voices - any expanded Mayoral powers should still require meaningful resident consultation and clear reporting on how feedback shapes decisions.

Overall, residents support action to accelerate delivery, but only where reforms strengthen accountability, protect communities, and ensure Londoners benefit from high‑quality, safe, and genuinely affordable homes.
