G15 submission to Select Committee inquiry into the regulation of social housing

The G15 has responded to the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Select Committee inquiry into regulation of social housing.

We welcome the committee’s inquiry into the regulation of social housing and are pleased to provide this response to the questions the committee has sought feedback on.

G15 members are supportive of regulation as it makes our
service better for our residents. We believe:

• The regulation of social housing is fit for purpose.

• The Social Housing White Paper will improve the regulatory regime and legislation to support its implementation should be introduced as soon as possible, so that residents have a stronger voice.
• Additional requirements in the Decent Homes Standard should be accompanied by additional funding.
