Two further G15 members sign strategic partnership deals with Homes England

A further two G15 members have signed strategic partnership deals with Homes England.

Optivo and Southern Housing Group have become the latest G15 members to become strategic partners of Homes England, the body responsible for increasing the number of new homes built in England.

As part of the partnership arrangements Optivo has been awarded £44.9m to start work on 1,000 homes outside London by 31 March 2022.

And Southern has secured £55.1m in grant funding to start 1,005 homes outside the capital by the same date.

The announcement brings the total number of G15 members attaining strategic partnership status with Homes England to four. Hyde and L&Q were amongst the first cohort of partners announced in July 2018, receiving a combined £180m to build roughly 3,300 homes between them.

Homes England strategic partners benefit from increased and more flexible grant funding in return for a commitment to significantly increase their output of new homes.

In London, Mayor Sadiq Khan has struck his own set of strategic partnerships to boost housebuilding in the capital. Nine G15 members are strategic partners of the Greater London Authority (GLA). Seven achieved this status in July 2017 (Clarion, Hyde, L&Q, Network, Notting Hill Genesis, Optivo and Peabody), while a further two struck deals in August of this year: (A2Dominion and Catalyst).

The G15’s various strategic partnerships reflect members’ unprecedented ambition to build and the strength of our relationships with both Homes England and the GLA.
