Peabody Chief Executive becomes new G15 Chair

Ian McDermott, Chief Executive at Peabody has today become the new Chair of the G15 group of London’s largest housing associations.

Ian will be supported by Clare Miller, Group Chief Executive at Clarion who will take on the role of Vice Chair.

Ian succeeds Fiona Fletcher-Smith, Chief Executive at L&Q who chaired the group since June 2023.

Responsibility for chairing the G15 rotates between members every two years. Ian McDermott will therefore Chair the group until 1 June 2027. 

Ian McDermott biography: Ian became Chief Executive of Peabody in October 2021. He was previously Chief Executive of Catalyst. A chartered surveyor, Ian has over 30 years' experience in the housing sector. He’s a Fellow and committee member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and an alumnus of Harvard Business School. Ian also sits on the board of the National Housing Federation and co-chaired the advisory group of the Better Social Housing Review.   

Clare Miller biography: Clare has been Group Chief Executive of Clarion Housing Group since 2018. She is a chartered accountant with almost 30 years’ experience in the housing sector. Clare joined the Housing Corporation in 1992 as a financial regulator. Over the next 18 years, she progressed to become its Director of Regulation. She then became an Executive Director at the Tenant Services Authority, with responsibility for housing association regulation. In 2010, Clare joined Affinity Sutton as Group Director of Governance and Compliance. She took up the same role at Clarion in 2016, before taking on her current role two years later.
