G15 Chair has responded to the government’s announcement on the £15bn Warm Homes Plan

Responding to yesterday's announcement on the Warm Homes Plan, Ian McDermott said:

"We’re pleased to see the long-awaited Warm Homes Plan. As a sector, we look forward to engaging with the Government to ensure that the design of future schemes is practical and allows us to meet net-zero targets in a way that delivers for residents. While much of the detail won’t be published until the Spring, the plan is clearly focused on the right priorities.

"It's positive to see continued support for the Warm Homes Social Housing Fund and the Warm Homes Local Grant, which remain critical to delivery at scale.

"The plan rightly acknowledges changing pressures on homes and residents. Recognition of overheating risk is particularly welcome, reflecting the importance of providing safe and comfortable homes all year round. Similarly, the increased focus on solar generation and battery storage is welcome, given rising electricity demand and the long-term value and deliverability of onsite generation.

"We look forward to the announcement of future policies in due course and to the further details of the plan in Spring. We hope the next wave of funding provides the flexibility and certainty needed to deliver this work effectively and at pace."
