The G15 Residents’ Group has responded to the GLA’s consultation on proposed changes to London housing standards and a time-limited planning route aimed at accelerating housing delivery.

Residents broadly support efforts to increase the supply of affordable homes but emphasise that speed must not come at the expense of quality, safety or long-term liveability. The response raises concerns around proposed relaxations to design standards, including cycle storage, dual-aspect homes and dwellings per core, highlighting potential impacts on safety, accessibility, equality and resident wellbeing.

The Group also supports a fast-track planning approach where appropriate safeguards are in place, and calls for stronger equality analysis, consistent standards across tenures, and meaningful resident involvement to ensure new homes are safe, inclusive and well-designed.
