“Today’s announcement shows the government’s clear commitment to getting more social and affordable homes built. These allocations are an important step in turning that long-term commitment into the new homes that are so urgently needed.
“The strong focus on social rent is particularly important, helping provide genuinely affordable, secure homes for families who need them most. We particularly welcome the commitment of up to 30 per cent of the programme to London, which represents a major opportunity to help more families out of temporary accommodation and into a secure home.
“G15 members have been delivering and managing affordable homes for generations and typically deliver one in four new homes built in the capital. We look forward to continuing to work alongside local authorities, the Mayor and government. We are, and will continue to be, committed partners in making this programme a success.
