The G15 Residents’ Group has responded to the Government’s consultation on proposals for a Single Construction Regulator, calling for stronger enforcement, clearer standards and greater transparency to rebuild trust in the building safety and construction system.
The response highlights the importance of learning from recent housing reforms, including Awaab’s Law, and stresses that effective regulation depends on clear timelines, visible enforcement and well-defined accountability across the construction chain. Residents also call for meaningful and early resident involvement in shaping regulatory standards, rather than consultation at a later stage.
The Group emphasises that trust in regulation must be demonstrated through performance, outcomes and transparency, and that resident voice should be embedded as a core part of the new system.
