The G15 Residents’ Group has responded to the Regulator of Social Housing’s consultation on proposed changes to consumer standards, broadly supporting the direction of reform while highlighting key areas for further clarity and improvement.

Residents emphasise the importance of ensuring that new standards are practical, proportionate and consistently applied, with stronger focus on lived experience, cultural change and meaningful accountability. The response also raises concerns around mixed-tenure complexities, contractor performance, workforce impacts and equality considerations.

The Group calls for clearer definitions, standardised reporting, and greater resident involvement to ensure the revised standards deliver real improvements in safety, transparency and day-to-day housing services.
