Network Homes Chief Executive takes up G15 Chair role

  • 1 July 2019

Helen Evans, Chief Executive of Network Homes, has today taken up the role of Chair of the G15 group of London’s largest housing associations, with Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive of Metropolitan Thames Valley, becoming Vice Chair.

Helen succeeds Paul Hackett, Chief Executive of Optivo, who successfully held the role for two years.

The G15’s members house one in ten Londoners and are the largest providers of affordable homes in the capital. They build a quarter of all London’s new homes and collectively own or manage more than 600,000 homes.

Helen said: "I’m very lucky to be taking over this role from Paul Hackett and am grateful for the opportunity to build on the great job he has done as Chair over the last two years.

“In that time, we have had to come to terms with the Grenfell tragedy and while there has been some progress, there is still more to do to ensure that such a terrible thing can never happen again. The G15’s absolute priority over the next two years is to ensure that we know for sure that all our homes are as safe as they can be. Those of us who are early adopters of the National Housing Federation’s Together with Tenants pledge will collaborate to ensure this project results in a relationship with residents that builds their trust and confidence.

“The G15 are united in their commitment to make as big a contribution to meeting the housing needs of the people of this city as we reasonably can. We are here for all Londoners who need that helping hand.

“I’m delighted that Geeta Nanda will be the Vice Chair and I will be working with her to ensure the G15 remains at the heart of the debate on affordable housing delivery in London. I am the first woman to be the Chair of G15 and in two years’ time Geeta will be the second. In a sector where women are underrepresented at senior levels, that is something to celebrate.”

Geeta Nanda said: “At a time of political and economic uncertainty, it is more important than ever for the sector to work proactively and innovatively to make a positive impact on the lives of Londoners.

“I’m proud to take up the position of G15 Vice Chair – and I look forward to working closely with Helen Evans and the rest of our G15 colleagues to realise our shared ambitions to help people in housing need, build more new homes and create communities where people can realise their potential.”
