G15 supports the Leadership NOW! Programme

  • 24 November 2020

The G15 believes that more needs to be done to accelerate greater leadership diversity.

Our colleagues at the UNIFY, collection of BAME groups working together across the housing sector, and GatenbySanderson, have developed a programme of bespoke initiatives, workshops and profiling development tools to accelerate learning; for new, aspiring and existing leaders, this programme will aid personal and professional development.

UNIFY and GatenbySanderson are focused on making the change the social housing sector is striving for and improving career opportunities for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff at all levels. The aim is to support developing leaders and highlight opportunities for career progression across the social housing sector. This partnership is designed to create a safe space to support current and future ethnically diverse leaders to achieve their personal and professional aspirations.

Successful leaders need clear insight into their core competencies, capabilities and their personal strengths and potential growth areas. Our tailormade leadership workshops, built on research from our ‘Future Leaders in Housing workshops’ devised from conversations with CEOs and Chairs across the social housing sector, will share conversations, perspectives and good practice of the sector’s unique and diverse talent. For new, aspiring and existing leaders, these modules will aid personal and professional development.

What does the Leadership NOW! programme involve?

The programme will involve a series of bespoke workshops, one-to-one coaching, peer conversations and profiling exercises over a period of three to four months. Some of the elements of the programme include:

  • Individual career conversations; series of one to one coaching sessions
  • Virtual shadowing
  • Job application, CV and Supporting statement masterclass
  • Creating an online presence workshop
  • One-to-one mock interview and presentation skills sessions
  • Virtual networking and affinity groups
  • The lifecycle of a recruitment process workshop

There will also be the opportunity to secure additional support after these elements of the programme if you are able to gain sponsorship by your organisation. This additional support involves your own personal leadership profiling assessment, one-to-one feedback with a behavioural psychologist and a series of both one-to-one and group coaching sessions to support your career development.
